Advent 2021, a walk in the Promises of God.
Reflect and join us as Penny shares the power of art.
This is a dearly loved painting by Raphael in 1513. The darling angels at the bottom of the painting are nearly as famous as Madonna and child. What are the angels thinking? Raphael used the open curtain motif. What ideas do the open curtains suggest? Why are there clouds in the painting? Who do you think are the other people in the painting? Look carefully in the background. Do you see angel faces?

Such a beautiful painting! I see the little angels just waiting – as patiently as the can – until it’s “time”. The curtains are welcoming all and all of humanity has been included in the background! Thanks for sharing, Penny, and helping us think!!

Oh the wonders we can behold as our minds concentrates on our Savior’s birth; and what it means for us. The great hope we have because God gave us hope through His son!
Thanks Penny for this.

The angels do seem to be waiting. They might be looking down at humans and thinking, “This plan is doomed to fail!” The curtain reminds me of the curtain of the Temple that was torn at Jesus death, inviting the outsiders like me to come.
