Advent Calendar – Day 16

Advent 2021, a walk in the Promises of God.

Once again Penny brings us the power of art….

Pieter Bruegel the Elder was a Flemish painter in the 16th century. This may be the first snowy Christmas scene ever painted. Europe was suffering through a little ice age at the time and winters were very cold. Bruegel painted not only a village, probably in Netherlands, but also a Christmas scene. What event is portrayed here? Hint: look for Mary and Joseph. Bruegel may have painted this around 1565. Talk about how life in a European village is different from your life. How is it the same? What about Christmas is unchanging, no matter the time or location?

God Is Always….
